LUCKY
February 12, 1997 – July 17, 2008

As the only Storm Kloud dog being specialed on the west
coast, he usually looked pretty out of place among the other
locally-bred dogs. We often joked that he looked like a
moose in a herd of gazelles with that big, broad head, huge
bone and coat. Maybe he didn't win as often as we would
have hoped, but win he did. In 2001 he was one of the top
20 malamutes and was invited to the first Eukanuba Classic.

Letting Lucky go was the hardest thing we've ever done. He
was our big dog, our baby boy, and my husband's best buddy.
But it was time and Lucky told us so. The bone cancer had
spread from one rear leg to the other. Getting up and
walking was getting harder every day. On his last trip to
his vet's office, he walked over to the front desk where he
lady friends worked, and he wooed. Lucky had arrived and he
knew they had cookies for him. We held him in our arms and
told him he was still the handsomest boy in the world and
would soon be with his beloved DeDe girl. We miss him
terribly, but each day is easier. We tell Lucky stories and
know that he is romping and running without pain. Until we
see you again, wear your silver harness with pride, Lucky
boy. You deserve it.
Lucky was one of the Top 20 dogs invited to the Eukanuba Classic in Florida on Dec. 12, 2001.
